Flower Market - Cuenca - Ecuador
Cuenca, Azuay Ecuador
One of the world’s great historic cities, Cuenca boasts more than 50 churches from the Spanish colonial era. But its major draw is the daily flower market, lurking in the shadow of the monumental Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción. Vendors at dozens of stands offer quivering orchids, arum lilies, and giant roses.
Selling at the flower market looks like a nice job. I’m sure there is a lot of hard work involved and some worry about selling “fresh” flowers, but this looks pretty good to me. Sitting outside surrounded by beautiful flowers, meeting people and seeing their day brightened by your flowers!
There are so many different kinds of flowers in a relativity small area, so much color and a fresh smell that picks you up. I can’t help but feel happy walking through the flower market.
