Sakura - Chiba Tulip Festa - 2019
Sakura-shi, Chiba-ken Japan
If you visit this event, you may can think that you are in the Netherlands …. the introduction of the Sakura Tulip Festa organized by the Sakura City Municipal Organization in the prefecture of Chiba, near Tokyo. Endless red, yellow and all the other colored tulips that you can dream of with a beautiful background of a windmill, making it a European experience for you and your family. Tokyo really has it all … right?
Apart from the tulips, I am amazed at the efforts the city of Sakura has made to recreate the Dutch experience. The De Love windmill is the first wind driven water pump in Japan! The windmill is made in the Netherlands, but is assembled here in Chiba and the wind energy helps to get water from the Lake of Inba and to irrigate the tulip farms. You can go inside to take and look at how such a mill looks inside.
The large parts of the tulips with the color variations they have put down is indeed special and I think this farm, the Sakura Tulip Festa, more popular than Showa Kinen Koen, a popular destination in Tokyo to enjoy tulips.
When you visit the farms, do not forget to make the most of the European experience. They rent Dutch clothing every day during the period of the event.
It is for adults (male and female) and they have also clothing for boys and girls
The staff can make a great picture with your family and in the background a windmill and tulips.
The biggest Tulip field in Kanto area is located at Sakura Oldness & Open Space in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture. The nearest station (Keisei Sakura Station) can be reached in about 1 hour from central Tokyo.
During the season (from early to late April), the festival, Sakura Tulip Festa (佐倉チューリップフェスタ) is held with 70 kinds, over 600,000 Tulip flowers.
