Kiso Sansen Park is one of the best flower parks in Central Japan and hosts many seasonal events throughout the year.
Kiso Sansen Park is beautiful any time of the year, but really comes alive every spring with the colours of the famous Tulip Festival. Visiting the park is like stepping into the beautiful tulip fields of Holland. Miniature windmills scattered amongst the flowers complete the appearance. There are around 260,000 tulips of about 125 different types in the park. The tulips are arranged in a layout that represents the three famous rivers of the area described above. The tulips look stunning in their waves of colours and do actually look like a flowing river, which is the theme of the display.
The flowering season is between April and May with the tulip festival on from early to late April.
Sticking with the Dutch theme of the tulip festival and family-oriented attractions of the park you will notice Miffy everywhere around the park. Miffy is a well-known Dutch rabbit cartoon character from Dick Bruna’s picture books. The character is very popular in Japan and a big hit with the families that visit.
The colourful flower beds are the main attraction, but while at the park, make sure you also check out the observation tower, which offers spectacular views of the surrounding area and three famous rivers. The 360 panoramic views from the top of the 65 meter tower are breath-taking and allow you to view the tulips from high above
