Keukenhof Gardens, tulip fields, Haarlem & Windmill Tour
See the Tulips in Bloom
Join us as we explore Keukenhof, the Garden of Europe, and its millions of beautiful blooming flowers. This is an event you don’t want to miss, as Keukenhof is only open for several weeks each year. This floral display is spectacular and a must-see for anyone visiting Amsterdam.
We like to get to Keukenhof Gardens early enough to catch the morning dew and enjoy the place before the masses arrive. We meet at 8:30am and, in our 8 seat minivan, drive the quickest route there, about 35 minutes. We give you an introductory overview of the gardens and a bit of tulip history. We arm you with a suggested walking route to see what’s looking best and you get 3 hours to enjoy exploring the magnificent Keukenhof Gardens.
After the gardens we drive along back roads and find tulip / daffodil / hyacinth fields where we can take photos of you for your next Christmas card! We take photos from the edge of the fields and where possible, if we can get permission, we can walk into the flower fields for photos too.
Lunch is in a very quirky real Dutch hideaway. It’s a pancake house on the edge of a nature reserve. Lunch is a traditional Dutch pancake, (there is a vegan version with soy). Over lunch we will talk about tulip mania and other aspects of the tulip trade.
The day is rounded off with a guided walk through Haarlem, and its lovely, charming, peaceful, medieval town center, taking in a hofje, tucked away streets and the main square as well, with stories along the way. We finish with a 30 minute guided tour through a picturesque windmill that has a viewing deck with beautiful panoramic views over Haarlem.
That Dam Guide has been at #1 on Tripadvisor of Amsterdam’s Things To Do section for about 5 years now, so if you want to get an idea of what people think of us before you decide whether to join us, that’s a great place to find out.
