Woth a Visit
Unlike Fontainebleau or Versailles Vaux-le-Vicomte is out in the country and driving is probably the easiest way to visit. Both the building and the gardens are on a grand scale. Walking the grounds can easily take a couple of hours plus time spent inside the palace itself.
Great site outside of the city
A simple french country estate – not. There are many palaces in France, and most people run off to Versailles, which is truly spectacular. But the Vaux-le-Vicomte is a unique experience. It was built before Versailles and much of Versailles’ features including the gardens are modeled after Vicomte. Get an audio guide, it is extremely well done and very informative.
A must visit!
What a beautiful chateau surrounded by gorgeous gardens and it wasn’t nearly as busy as Versailles. The view from the top is an easy stair climb and well worth the 3 euros. I can’t recommend coming here enough
