Flower carpet – 2018
OVER 600,000 FLOWERS!
The Flower Carpet is 75 m long by 24 m wide. 1,800 m2 of begonias, around 300 cut flowers per m2!
A hundred volunteers assemble the carpet in 4 hours.
The first Flower Carpet of Brussels was created in 1971 and has been a showstopper every two years on the Grand-Place since 1986.
SCENTS, COLORS, LIGHTS AND SOUNDS…
Every other summer, on the weekend of August 15th, the Flower Carpet offers a chance to stroll across the Grand-Place, a jewel of Gothic architecture, to inhale the fragrant scent of the begonias and admire its details. This extraordinary spectacle is made complete by a visit to the balcony of the Town Hall, which offers a wide-angle view of the work. A musical theme is especially composed for each edition. A concert is given on the Grand-Place every evening and accompanies a magnificent sound-and-light show.

The Portishead Flower Show is the largest flower show in the North Somerset and Bristol area and is organised by the Portishead and District Horticultural Society and its members.
The Show is a combination of a traditional flower show and a country fair with attractions for the whole family. We have over 24,000 square feet under canvas with three marquees hosting flower, vegetable and craft classes, children’s classes, photographs and art work. With 1.1 million golden blossoms of 100 different varieties, the largest collection of sunflowers in the country completely covers the hill in one fell swoop.

What is the Battle of Flowers?
The Battle of Flowers began as a one off event celebrating the Coronation of Edward Vll and Queen Alexandra in 1902 when flower covered floats took part in a parade. The ‘battle’ element came from the practice of tearing petals from the creations and covering onlookers with them in the hope they would be thrown back. Save for the wartime years, the parade has taken place annually and has grown into one of the largest carnivals in Europe. Today, the floats have also grown from small horse drawn carriages to fully animated creative artworks, sometimes 45 feet long!

Shrewsbury Flower Show is far from being just for gardeners or flower lovers. With thrilling 12 hour non-stop entertainment, music from Britain’s top military bands, choirs, first class show jumping, live displays and a tempting food hall, there is something for everyone.
Shrewsbury is a pretty floral place, and where Percy Thrower was Parks Superintendent for 28 years. The town is home to one of the biggest events in the gardening calendar, the Shrewsbury Flower Show. With its roots stretching back to 1836, it is believed to be the world’s longest running horticultural show, a claim backed up by the Guinness World Book of Records. The magnificent fireworks display is said to be one of the best outside London and the company who created the firework opening and finale for the London Olympics provide the Shrewsbury Flower Show display so it is not to be missed.

The Rose Festival is a biennial exhibition of hundreds of thousands of roses processed in beautiful rose mosaics, rose objects and rose gardens in and around downtown Lottum. The village is during these days one big sea of flowers, which in the last edition of 2016 was visited by over 50,000 people.

Kiyose Sunflower Festival – 2019
The sight of some 100,000 sunflowers entertains crowds of visitors each year!
The Kiyose Sunflower Festival started in 2008 to offer a sweeping view of brilliant yellow under the dazzling summer sun. The vast venue measuring some 24,000 square meters is ordinarily used by independent farmers to grow wheat. Sunflowers are specially cultivated for the festival, and the space is opened to the public only during the event. The sight of some 100,000 sunflowers entertains crowds of visitors each year. Kiyose City is a great producer of crops. Fresh summer vegetables such as eggplant, cucumber, and edamame are sold specially at the venue along with cut sunflowers. This is a must-visit destination, as the bright, cheerful sunflowers growing straight up toward the sun promise to share their energy with you.
Flower Parade Rijnsburg – 2018
The Flower Parade Rijnsburg runs every second Saturday on August and is made up of 12 parade floats and more than 50 other elements, such as cars, music corporations, etc. In addition, every float of the parade is supported by more than 100 figurants.
Every year our event attracts over 350,000 visitors.
The first corso in Rijnsburg was organized in 1946 and has since been held every year.

Oakwood, Ockley & Forest Green Summer Fair, Flower Show
Oakwood Hill Recreation Ground was once again transformed into a show ground for this great community event. With 1,500 paying adults and free admission for under 16’s, stall holders and Flower Show committee and volunteers, there were around 2,500 people in attendance. This family oriented traditional rural show has been an almost annual event since 1893.
