Green makes the city beautiful and clean again, this theme is central during the Floriade Expo 2022. Large stone and steel towers make room for a day full of inspiration for a sustainable world at the exhibition.
The Floriade is an international horticultural exhibition that takes place every 10 years in the Netherlands. It’s a world-class event, drawing visitors from across the globe who come to see the most beautiful flowers, plants, and trees.
But this year is unique: the Floriade has decided to take a stand for sustainable living by building all of its structures out of local materials—and they’re asking everyone else in the world to do the same. They’re calling it “growing green cities,” and they want everyone else to join them.
How can I visit the Floriade Expo 2022?
The Floriade is just a quick drive away from Amsterdam, in Almere. You can also travel easily by train, and take a shuttle bus from there. If you opt for public transport, NS helps you find out which train or bus connection you need and travel to Floriade the green way.
The Floriade expo 2022 starts on 14th April and runs until 9th October, and brings the countryside into the city during spring and summertime. The best time to visit The Netherlands is around July. This is however the busiest and most expensive month, but also the month when the weather is at best.
When we visited in July, the trees were in full bloom, many Dahlias at the side of the walking paths and a lot of sun! Perfect weather to enjoy a drink at the many restaurants with outdoor seating options, such as the food trucks.

Where to eat at Floriade by Jeffrey
The options for food are amazing at Floriade. From fine dining at The Dutch to the many food trucks through the park, you can never go wrong with the food here! Dive into the Dutch culture with “poffertjes” or get a coffee with apple pie at Flora’s Kitchen. But my favourite place to get food at the expo is at the food trucks in the Urban District. Here we enjoyed a cup of coffee and a delicious smoothie.
